Liberty heading home in grief and disgust

Loss Of Liberties, Trust, & Credibility

How are you doing? Personally, I’ve been flip-flopping between broken hearted crying and being absolutely furious. Watching this disgraceful travesty of a Supreme Court take away rights from American citizens for the first time in the history of the nation is beyond gut-wrenching. It’s infuriating, enraging, and hugely disappointing. It’s also terrifying. Because what’s next? Clearly this is just a step on the way to depriving women (or perhaps I should say ‘chattel’ now) of even more rights. Not to mention queer people, and people in “mixed marriages” (unless that one gets a pass because someone Black happens to be married to a treasonous white woman who hopefully will be in jail soon). The American people are being ignored by this Supreme Court, which has lost trust at home and credibility throughout the world.

Anyway. Where was I? Oh, right. No, oh, wrong wrong WRONG.

Please call or write or both to your elected officials, your state senators and representatives and let them know what you want them to do.

If you aren’t sure where to start, use the scripts-they also include contact information for your people if you put in your zip code. Five calls. 5 minutes. Please.

Had a great meeting with Holly Brewer with Indivisible Bainbridge. There are many ways to get involved! We need to make ourselves heard.

I hear you Ann, it has been a terrible several days. Even that damn coach getting to pray at sporting events has me in a lather! What the hell?
A friend commented about us taking two steps forward and 5,000 steps back!
Saw a headline in the Daily Kos today that read, “Supreme Court finds that the Civil War was wrongly decided, reinstates the Confederacy! That says it all!
    Will make those calls!!

Because of a couple of personal experiences recently and many years ago, and my Christian faith, I really have a very hard time condoning abortion, although with the definite exception for rape and incest victims, and when the health of the mother is at risk. I can also understand other situations where an abortion seems to be the best solution, but I do still struggle with it. I nevertheless deplore the Supreme Court’s reasoning and their decision, and especially Clarence Thomas’s additional comments, and support your ability to feel as you do and to speak out about it. We do live at a sad moment in society, but we can still enjoy looking at our gardens.

Thank you for sharing these thoughts.
    I feel the same way.
